New Research show Cancer and Heart Disease is on the rise,

Sugar is to Blame!

There are projected more than 1,660,290 new cancer cases to be diagnosed this year in the US and 580,350 Americans will die this year from it.  That is 35% mortality/death rate.  Pretty scary!  Also another 600,000 Americans will die of Heart disease (Men and Women), still the leading cause of disease death in the US. (The leading cause of death is Prescription drugs combined with medical errors in and out of hospitals, but that is a discussion for a different day.)

Why?   Despite our wealth of technology and understanding of the human body there still is this much death in an industrialized nation.  On top of flawed assumptions and approaches that, in many cases, do more harm than good.  The fundamental problem with prevalence of this high and such a high mortality rate comes to the 3 main ideals of what the human body needs to thrive.

We Need to:

  1. Eat Right!
  2. Move Right!
  3. Think Right!

There are problems with all of these in the US but the #1 problem is a simple answer.


It is in just about everything in the foods we eat!  The more processed and more refined the more sugar.

The sad fact is that fats, particularly saturated fats, have been beaten like a drum for 60 years as the cause of all our problems.  However, with the awareness and action of removing or monitoring the fats things have only gotten worse.  See my blog post on “Fats Don’t Make you Fat” for more on that.

Sugar and fructose (fruit sugar) in particular, has been implicated as a culprit in the development of both heart disease and cancer.

Having this information now puts you in the driver’s seat to control your own diet and ultimately health.

Fructose is fruit sugar, and is Absolutely OK for you, but in moderation. It is recommended less than 25 grams per day, 15 if you are diabetic to be consumed daily.

1 Can of soda has more than this in it and people drink and eat on average, more than 3.5 times this daily!  High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS) is the medium food manufacturers get it into our bodies.
